How To Secure Your Alertpay Account? Plus, Few Tips To Avoid Getting Your Alertpay Account Hacked!
The reason for me posting this is because lately I’ve had many people I know get their Alertpay account ‘hacked’, which reality isn’t hacked but instead most of the time they just give their password away one way or another so here I will explain how to avoid doing that.
First there are two main ways how ‘crooks’ and ‘morons’ try to and / or get a hold of your Alertpay payment processor account login details.
1st – Is through phishing emails – This is really simple and easy to get caught because some of these emails look legit. You receive an email that claims to come from Alertpay saying that your account needs to be updated or is about to be suspended, once you click on the link in that email (You should never click on any link in any email that is masked or you are not familiar with) you are sent to a website that looks like Alertpay but isn’t, that asks for your details when you enter the details nothing happens and you are redirected to the official AP website, what really happened in the background is that you were sent to a duplicated website and your password was recorded by the crook.
This is the main way these idiots get your login details, so when it comes to Alertpay, Paypal, SolidTrustPay or any type of online banking or money related websites never click on a link in your email, instead go to your browser address bar and type the link manually, this way is safer and you will be 100% sure that you are going to the right place, just keep this tip in mind and you will never fall victim of this type of scam.
2nd – Crook Admins – This is the second most common case of Alertpay accounts getting hacked, people join a ‘money making program’ and use the same password for their login as the one they used for their Alertpay account, Crook Admins will go to Alertpay and try to access your account, if the password matches then they will withdraw all the funds.
Commonsense tells you how to avoid this, Always Use An Unique Password for your Alertpay, Paypal, SolidTrustPay or any type of online banking or money related website, this way you will be safe from Crook Admins. Just use an unique password, it doesn’t have to be a really rare or a hard one, as long as it is unique you will be a lot safer than using the same password that you use in other websites.
Extra – Key-loggers - Keyloggers are software that are installed in your computer that records everything you type, for you to be infected with one of these programs you need to either download something or agree to install it from a malicious website and if your computer is infected by a Keylogger then the chances are high that you also might have a virus. The first precaution to take is not to accept executable (.exe) files from anyone or open them if you get them in an email, avoid surfing dangerous websites like : Porn, Warez, Cracks, etc. And make sure to install an Antivirus and spyware checker.
You can get a free antivirus by going to download.com, I use Avast but AVG is also a good option, both are free and they work great.
Ad-aware is a great tool to keep your computer clean of bots, spyware, adware and all type of malicious softwares, you can find that in the same link above.

Make sure to make a Full System Scam weekly for free using HouseCall : http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ (Your computer will be scanned for free and without any hassles).
Those are the two main ways people get hacked from what I know so far, this 3rd option is something that I use and I highly recommend and the main reason why I thought about making this post, this will make it impossible for crook admins to get your Alertpay login details, even if you were to give them your password they wouldn’t be able to get into your account.
There is a feature in Alertpay where you can set a secondary email address for any particular account, this is the feature that you will use to keep your account safe. When you send or receive money you must share an email address, this is where your secondary email address will come into play, by setting one you don’t have to share the primary which is the one used to login which means that they (the crooks) can have your password and your ‘payment’ email address and they won’t be able to get into your account because they need to know your primary one.
So here are the step by step instructions for setting up a secondary email and use it for payments.
Its really simply, always use the secondary email to send and receive payments and the primary one to login only.
1 - Create an unique email address and don’t share it with anyone (This will be your Alertpay primary email address).
2 - Login to your Alertpay account, click on ‘profile’ and then on ‘email addresses’.
3 - Click on ‘Add New’ and add your unique email address, confirm it and make it your primary address.
4 - Every time you join any program and you have to share your Alertpay address use your secondary email.
5 - That’s it, your primary will be used for login only and no one will be able to know it.
